We have a lot of new faces in the library this year, which means a lot of new names. Here’s a list to make it easy on you!
Ms. Fumarolo received both her BA and MSLIS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and joined Lake Forest High School as a librarian in 2015. She is a Hufflepuff and thinks this helps make her a good librarian as they are known for being excellent finders. She loves reading almost anything, and has a soft spot for memoirs, classics, fantasy, historical fiction, and science fiction. When she’s not reading, you can find her on social media talking about books, geeking out about art, or planning her next globe-trotting adventure.
Mrs. Middlebrook received her Bachelor of Arts in Art and Post Baccalaureate in K- 12 Art Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. Originally from Texas, she enjoys the snowy, Chicago winters and traveling south with her husband and two young daughters. In her free time she practices modern calligraphy, teaches hand lettering classes, and loves learning to cook various ethnic cuisines. When she is not researching recipes or calligraphy styles, Mrs. Middlebrook likes to read science fiction and fantasy, preferably with a cup of coffee in hand.
Mrs. Nielsen is a new member of the Lake Forest library crew. She holds a B.A. from Trinity International University and has been involved with libraries (even when camping all summer) for a long time. As a Sci Fi/Fantasy reader, Mrs. N. has written her first ever novel, By Land or Sea, and is busy editing and expanding it to over 70,000 words. Outside of reading and writing, she loves hanging out with her family, earth-ing it in her organic garden, and playing jazz trombone in a couple area big bands.
Mrs. Roman got her A.A. in Liberal Arts from the College of Lake County. She has four kids which are comprised of two sets of twins: two girls and two boys. When she’s not busy with all things multiples she likes to read graphic novels and comic books. She’s a self-professed super nerd. She is a big fan of pop culture and all things trivia. In her free time, you can find her reading, binge-watching Netflix, or playing the latest first person shooter on the PS4. She is also an avid sports enthusiast, supporting the Bears, Cubs, and Bulls. Her favorite genres are graphic novels, mysteries, suspense and the occasional feel good romance.
Mrs. Thomas received her Bachelor of Art in Art and her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University. She received her Master of Art in Art Education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter, creating pottery, learning more about photography, and, of course, reading. Mrs. Thomas will read just about anything, but her favorites right now are, Backman’s A Man Called Ove, Fey’s Bossypants, and Doerr’s All the Light We Cannot See.
Ms. Turek is happy to be a part of the Lake Forest team! Her background is in library science, as well as French and ballet, both of which she has had the opportunity to study abroad for five years, and later teach. She returned to Chicago to complete an MA in literature from the University of Chicago. Her favorite books are Anna Karenina and War and Peace by Tolstoy and Dr. Zhivago by Pasternak. She enjoys hiking and spending time with family. She looks forward to getting to know and working with the students at Lake Forest High School.
Mrs. Grigg received her BA and MLS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has been at LFHS since 2008 and you can find her talking tech with teachers and students in the EdTech Studio on the Library’s 2nd floor. She has two little boys, and even though they may be the most adorable children in the universe, they do tend to cramp her style in the reading department. When she is able to steal a few moments to read, fantasy, science fiction, and adventure are her genres of choice.
Mr. Juliano is a Google Certified Teacher and Google Education Trainer. He graduated from Augustana College and earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He enjoys writing, reading, kayaking, hiking and drinking coffee with his wife.
Mr. Holmer is a Google Certified Innovator and authorized Google for Education Certified Trainer. He graduated from Illinois State University with a B.A. in Middle School Education and earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from Boise State University. Most recently he was recognized by the ISTE organization as the 2015 Outstanding Young Educator for his work in coaching and technology integration. Before becoming a Yoga Studio EdTech, he was a middle school science teacher. Outside the building, he binge-watches shows on Netflix, does the occasional triathlon, and enjoys a movie at the local cineplex. He also has a cat named Aiden.
Mrs. Mobile received her B.F.A from Ray-Vogue School of Design in Chicago. She worked for 15+ years in the luxe world of home design and building before her, highly desired, career change to high school life. She is the new bookstore manager, testing coordinator and assistant junior varsity softball coach. She lives in Lake Forest with her husband and her, 13 going on 30, daughter Cynthia. In her free time she enjoys camping adventures with her family. This year she hopes to clear a few items off the family bucket list and to enjoy a few great fictional reads. She is always looking for book recommendations.
